1) Practices are held Monday thru Friday and start at 5:30am and generally run till 7. If students have 8am classes then coaches make a special effort to get back to the docks on time so that students aren't late for class. If time permits then practices can run longer to get more rowing time in. 2) Practices are MANDATORY. Attendance is critical to building a strong and confident team and makes the difference between winning the race by meters or losing it by inches. Not attending a water practice will result in a new person rowing in unfamiliar position or, if there are not enough people at practice, there will be an empty spot in the boat which is very irritating and leads to useless practices. 3) We are a highly competitive team with both novice/varsity and men/women's boats. Last year the mens novice 4+ boat received 1st place at ACRA's and our women's varsity 4+ boat was awarded 3rd. So If you plan to join the rowing team, then look forward to working hard, competing, and most of all having a great time. |
